Promethean Editions Limited is a publisher of contemporary classical music and we engage in a number of classical music enterprises, including arts management and print production services, for other publishers and arts organisations throughout the world. We are seeking an enthusiastic, music-loving marketing or classical music student (or other interested professionals) to assist us in completing our marketing and promotion projects. This Internship is a volunteer position in our editorial team. It is designed to provide students or other professionals with the opportunity to gain work experience in the publishing and/or music publishing sectors.

This Internship is neither a full-time nor a paid position. The successful applicant will be required to work at our offices on Boulcott Street, Wellington, between 10 to 15 hours per week for a period of up to six months.

It is envisaged that the Intern will work for a maximum of 6 months (at approximately 10-15 hours per week) and complete the following projects:

  • Editorial copy activity: write, edit and format the front matter copy for a selection of works that are to be made available for sale online; and
  • Website Publishing activity: digitize existing publications ready to be used/uploaded to Google Books.

The Intern will gain valuable work experience working in a professional publishing environment. A full written reference will be provided at the end of the internship including, if applicable, a letter of recommendation to prospective employers. This is an excellent opportunity to build up your CV and gain new skills and experiences with an internationally respected publishing and music business.

We are looking for applicants who have most or some of the following:

  • A positive ‘can-do’ attitude;
  • Someone looking to gain valuable work experience to further their career;
  • Enrolled (or completed) in a degree programme with a focus on publishing, literature, music, marketing or communications (graduates or professionals who are seeking a change of direction would also be welcome to apply);
  • An interest in gaining work experience in publishing or music publishing;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with an attention to detail;
  • Working knowledge of computers, preferably Mac OS, and experience with the Internet and social media;
  • Customer service experience; and
  • A high level of initiative and determination to push personal boundaries to achieve new goals.

This Internship is neither a full-time position nor paid position. The successful applicant will be required to work at our offices in Wellington, between 10 to 15 hours per week for a period of up to six months.
